BERGKAMP WAS BEST EVER
Patrick Viera, Thierry Henry, Ian Wright, Tony Adams and Pat Jennings are just a few of the players that are mentioned whenever people start talking and debating about which player has been the best one who has worn an Arsenal jersey.
Thierry Henry is generally considered to be the best one as the retired Frenchman helped Arsenal on winning big pieces of silverware by making a total of 254 appearances and scoring 174 goals during his playing career with the Premier League club.
However, according to the former Arsenal player Paul Merson, considers Dennis Bergkamp to be the greatest player to have performed for Arsenal.
Paul Merson told the media: "He’s the best I’ve ever played with by a long, long way. I can’t talk high enough of the bloke, he was absolutely phenomenal. I think he’s the greatest Arsenal player of all time. He and Thierry Henry are completely different players.
"You talk to Thierry or Ian Wright and they can’t speak highly enough of the man. As a centre forward you’re only as good as the player you're playing with. If you look at Fernando Torres, his best year was at Liverpool when he was playing with Steven Gerrard."
On June of 1995, Arsenal signed Dennis Bergkamp for a transfer fee of €7.5 million as the Dutchman made a move from Inter Milan over to Arsenal and managed to help the English club in winning 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields.
Despite who might or might not be considered to be the most important figure that has played for Arsenal, this Premier League club is one of the top European clubs that truly does appreciate what their most outstanding players and important figures of Arsenal have done and they do this by placing statues around the Emirates Stadium which is what has been done with: Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams, Herbert Chapman and Ken Friar.
I suppose Alexis Sanchez is considered the best player of the current squad, and if you fancy seeing for yourself whether he deserves to become a club legend you can click here for ticket info.
